We’ve gotten to photograph so many of the major changes in their lives and we feel so honored!
It really feels like their wedding day was just this last summer but 4 years have already passed! And now they are a family of three.
We had so much fun meeting Lottie. She, however, couldn’t have cared less about those two weirdos making strange noises and acting like fools behind that odd, black, square thing.
which mostly involved walking…and tripping. Anything that involved being limited in her mobility was NOT of interest to her (all the moms are nodding their heads). But we pulled out some of our best moves and got some sweet family shots and then laughed a lot as we let her do her own thing.
Turns out, the key to keeping Lottie in one place was a rocking chair. She was full of delight as she climbed on, walked around, and rocked in her chair. Of course, this still only lasted a few minutes and she was off and running again. Oh, to be full of endless energy!
One of our favorite parts of a family session is when we get dad and mom alone.
Parents don’t often think about a photo of themselves, they are just hoping to get one good one of everyone looking happy.
But this is why we love this part.
It’s so important to remember that even when our kids require so much of our time and attention, even when we feel like those people we used to be are just a shadow on the wall, even when we feel like two ships in the night, this relationship is the most important one. This is the one that will last far beyond the late night feedings and little league games. The one that will be there when the last child heads off for college.
Sometimes we need that photo to remind us that those two people who started this family are still right there. They might have darker circles under their eyes, they probably have a few more wrinkles, and they will definitely be getting some gray hair, but they are still there.
They are still in this together.
They are still worth celebrating.
Jon & Mary,
Thank you for trusting us with your milestones. We will always love having you in front of our cameras (we promise, Jon, we won’t ever be tired of you!) and can’t wait until we can do it again!
Love,
Abby & Brandon
