The weather said there was a 90% chance of thunderstorms…
Danny and Nikki had worked hard to prepare their sweet wedding location, a wedding that was to take place outdoors, through the beautiful trees with a view of the lake behind them.
Each tree was wrapped in twinkling lights and the beautiful white chairs contrasted beautiful against the vibrant greens of the bushes and trees. Overhead, a canopy of lights gave a cozy and romantic feel to this sweet wedding.
All morning we peeked out the windows, watching the clouds, feeling for raindrops, expecting that it could downpour at any moment. But the sky held back its mists and even though clouds veiled the sun, the light was bright, anticipating the celebration.
Today was about family. A family that already felt like one was now about to truly be one. Every part of the day represented this wonderful knitting together and each friend present knew just how special this day was for Danny, Nikki, and their girls.
It’s an amazing thing to not only be invited into someone’s story, but asked to capture it and retell it through those simple moments that are caught forever. We want to celebrate and rejoice with every deep look, every joyous smile, every tear, every kiss, every little piece we see of two lives coming together into one. And this day it was 6 lives. Joy runneth over.
As the ceremony began, guests were cuddled in blankets and snuggling close to one another. The breeze off the lake was swift but even the chill in the air wasn’t going to stop the excitement and warmth that permeated this celebration. The lone violinist’s bow danced over her strings as each of the girls walked down the aisle, ahead of their mother. Everyone rose as the bride was escorted down the aisle on the arm of her father.
The bride and groom locked eyes. This was it, all of the planning and preparing was really for this moment. It was finally here.
My favorite moment came after the ceremony. Danny and Nikki were pronounced husband and wife, the groom kissed the bride, joyful cheers rang out as they headed back up the aisle as a married couple, and all their friends and family greeted them with hugs and excitement before heading over to the reception.
And this was the moment. Everyone had left except for the brand new family of 6. On the deck, as the light quickly faded they circled together for a big family hug. This really was what the whole day was about. Family.
Danny and Nikki we are so thrilled for you two and your marriage journey. You start from a different place than some but the commitment and love that we see in you is such a blessing to not only your marriage, but to your beautiful girls. We really are so, so happy for you!
Congratulations!
