AJ and Ashley {Alexandria, MN Wedding}

We love photographing weddings because we love what is behind the celebration: two people, committing their lives to one another, promising to walk with one another through the worst and the best, always forgiving, always loving, always persevering.
AJ and Ashley’s story took some twists and turns and even looked a little bleak, but this wedding day was one of celebration and restoration.
These two met 6 years ago and, after a short period of dating, found out they were pregnant with a sweet, baby boy. They wanted to make things work and gave it their best at the time, but circumstances pushed them apart, leaving them both a little jaded and on less than amicable terms. The next few years would pass by as they both lived their lives separately.

Restoration is the process of bringing back something that has been damaged; restoring or renewing to an unimpaired or improved condition. And it was exactly what was about to happen for these two and their son.

As the next 5 years passed by AJ and Ashley each found themselves growing in new ways. They were gaining perspective on their lives and their choices, recognizing their own faults and how they had each contributed to the breaking apart of their relationship. While they still had no contact with one another, they both felt their hearts changing, willing to let go of hurt and anger and instead, to admit their mistakes and offer forgiveness.
Remember that sweet, little, baby boy of theirs? He would play a key part in this restoration process.
Just a short time ago, AJ reached out to Ashley, asking if he could spend time with their son, very ready to have a consistent relationship with him. Ashley was willing and they began spending time all together (you can see where this is going!).
It did not take long at all for these two to realize they wanted to give this another chance, they wanted to be a family.
They began dating, followed quickly by their engagement (when you know, you know!) and just a couple of months later we reach this amazing wedding day…this day that would represent the incredible restoration of this wonderful family.

AJ and Ashley, we really cannot express our happiness and joy for you two. Having gotten to see this whole story play out from the beginning has been amazing and we felt so HONORED that you asked us to capture this extremely special day.
We are so excited for all that your lives and future hold!! We are proud of you for stepping into the hard places and choosing forgiveness and grace for yourselves and for each other. You are an inspiration.
