Aaron and Blair drove up from the Cities to Alexandria for their fall engagement session and it was one of the only days in a surrounding week that we didn’t have rain! The sun even peeked out for a couple of minutes.
A few months ago, when Blair’s email landed in our inbox we knew that we’d love working together. She shared about their plans for their wedding day and said she was marrying her best friend. Another email later she and Aaron both felt that our personalities would align and that we would be perfect at capturing their day.
We LOVE this! Your wedding day is such an important day and you spend so much of it with your photographers. You not only need to like their work, but you need to like THEM! You need to feel comfortable and enjoy being with them.
These two lovebirds met while attending school at UND. They became good friends and didn’t look beyond that for a couple of years. But, as all good love stories go, they started to recognize what was right in front of them and took their relationship another step.
As time went on they knew this was where they wanted to spend forever. They were best friends and they knew this was who they wanted to be with everyday.
Aaron began “the plan”. He dreamed and schemed and came up with a GREAT plan.
Blair and her family love Disney World. Memory after memory has been made in the great state of Florida and there was a family trip already planned. It seemed like the perfect opportunity!
Aaron decided he would make it epic and propose during the light show at Magic Kingdom. Everyone would be there, it would be meaningful as well as exciting.
Now, let’s sidebar here. Have you ever been to Disney World, specifically Magic Kingdom, and watched the light show? If you have then you can see how this might not work out exactly as he hoped.
If you haven’t ever been, let us explain. At the end of the day, right before the park closes but after the rides have shut down, Disney puts on this amazing light show on the castle. They literally project the show right onto the castle. It is full of music and is this amazing display of Disney Characters and your favorite songs.
It’s also totally crowded. Shoulder to shoulder, you can’t move (or kneel down on the ground), kind of crowded. Depending on how soon you get in position you may or may not have a great vantage point and there will probably be at least one kid crying nearby (we know…ours was the kid one time). 🙂
So Aaron shared his plans with some of Blair’s family and they informed him of these things. He decided this would be far less epic than he was hoping and made a change of plans.
Blair was fairly certain Aaron would be proposing on this trip. Her whole family was there and it was Florida after all. But she didn’t know where or when it would happen.
They arrived at the steakhouse for dinner. Aaron has family that works in the beef industry so steak is a more meaningful experience than it might be for the average person. 🙂
As they enjoyed their dinner and time with family, Aaron prepared to ask the biggest question of his life.
The waiter had been informed of the proposal plan and must have told the rest of the wait staff who, in turn, shared it with the entire restaurant because, as Aaron dropped to his knee, the whole restaurant grew quiet. All eyes were watching this sweet moment unfold.
Aaron looked up from his position on the floor and pulled out a beautiful ring. He asked his best friend the question he had been waiting and waiting to ask…
Guess what? She said yes. 🙂
This engagement session was pretty chilly but we were so happy it wasn’t raining! We arrived at Brophy Park only to see that they had cut down so many of the trees…we hardly recognized it!
It’s always disappointing when your favorite locations change but it’s also exciting to go explore and find something new! We wandered down from where we parked and found some amazing fall color and a slight reprieve from the wind.
The nice thing about cold engagement sessions is there’s always a lot of snuggling!
It’s so fun when couples bring something fun that has meaning to them. We ended the session with the popping of champagne!
Aaron and Blair,
We are so excited to get to know you two better. We loved the time we got to spend together and can’t wait for more!!
