For Ty & Emily’s engagement session we got out of our usual element and explored the Maple Grove Arboretum. It was beautiful and so fun to discover each area of the park. The colors and the weather were perfect and we loved hearing Ty & Emily’s story again!
She stared at her phone screen, the blue light illuminating her face as she paused, staring at those eyes looking right back at her. It only took a moment…she swiped.
Her photo captivated him, she was absolutely beautiful. He had to give this a shot. He swiped.
They met at Leinenkugel’s Brewery. First dates are always a little awkward at first as you fumble for what to talk about and attempt to see if you really enjoy one another’s company or not. Would this be a flop? Or would it be the start of something?
They had both swiped right so they both knew there was at least some interest here. Now to see if it would last the evening or if they’d try to cut the date short.
The hours kept steadily ticking by, but neither seemed to notice. Conversation flowed so easily and laughter filled the space between them. When the day finally ended they parted ways and finally had a few minutes to reflect on what had just transpired.
Tyler couldn’t escape the one, resounding thought:
Emily wasn’t far behind in her own thoughts and they dove head first into this exciting relationship.
They’d only been dating for 7-8 months, but when you know, you know. For Tyler, he’d really known since the beginning, but he was ready to make it official and ask this beautiful girl to marry him!
Tyler and Emily love to play games and they are both very competitive. Cribbage is definitely their game of choice and many a heated game has been played on the cribbage board.
Emily was driving to Wisconsin to spend the weekend with Tyler and he was strangely nervous (hmm, we wonder why 😉 ). But he kept his cool and they started their time off as they often did…a rousing game of cribbage. Or so Emily thought.
Instead of getting the cribbage board set she could tell Tyler was stalling a bit. Finally, he looked at her and said
The cribbage board was the kind that folds in half. Tyler picked up the board and opened it up like a ring box. There, underneath the cards, sat a sparkling diamond ring.
After all his nerves and preparation, Tyler was asking Emily to marry him and of course she said:
Wait, WHAT!?
Okay calm down.
She did say “no”, but it was followed by a lot more “no, no, no, no” as she could hardly believe this was happening! Was this happening? No, no way. But wait, this WAS happening.
After the shock wore off, she saved Ty from a heart attack by responding in the way he was hoping:
Absolutely, no doubt in her mind. Emily was all in with her “yes”.
Ty & Emily,
We really had such a fun time with you two from exploring new places, to hearing stories of your lives, to discussing whiskey (well, the boys had fun with that). Thank you for sharing your time and stories with us.
We are super excited for your wedding next summer!!
