This engagement session at the St. Cloud quarries was like going on an adventure! When you live in flat Minnesota even a large hill feels a little mountainous and the quarries were way better than a big hill!
As we marched off into Quarry Park and Nature Preserve we chose to head for the boardwalk. Brandon thought this would be a good time to belt out “Boardwalk” by The Drifters.
He got no more than 5 words into it when suddenly both Jon and Annie joined him to finish off the line.
Needless to say, we got along great with these two ๐
We explored the St. Cloud park until it was too dark to photograph anymore and had to make our way out of the park in the dark. It was a beautiful night full of laughter, beautiful scenery, and a gorgeous couple!
Jon and Annie met online. On OKCupid to be exact.
When Jon signed up he had already decided that he would only date a girl with a profile based in Minneapolis because he was planning to stay right there.
One night, while looking at profiles, Annie’s face popped up. She definitely caught his attention, BUT she didn’t live in Minneapolis…she was located in Hopkins.
Jon decide that Hopkins was close enough! There was no way he could pass up giving it a shot with this girl. He sent her a message and a relationship was born.
Annie and Jon messaged back and forth for a few weeks before going on their first date. And even after that first date it was a few more weeks before they would see each other again.
But sparks had flown on that first outing and they stayed connected for those weeks in between.
It didn’t take long for the realization that they were each “the one” to sink in. Knowing they wanted to walk into the future with each other, they began planning their life together.
They knew their plan. They were confident and comfortable.
And frankly, venues book out really far in advance so they wanted to make sure they got in to the venue of their choice!
They did, by the way. ๐
Fast forward to May 16, 2018.
Annie had been working at the historical society that day. While going about her business, flowers arrived from Jon.
“How sweet” she thought, assuming they were simply a thoughtful gift from her sweetheart.
Her phone buzzed and she opened it to read a text from Jon:
“Let me know when you’re on your way home and I’ll throw the pizzas in”.
Side note here: Jon and Annie love a good pizza night and their favorite kind? “Jack’s”ย ๐
Back to the story.
This probably seems like a normal text message to most of us, but Annie was tipped off.
She and Jon live just two minutes away from the historical society…he never asked her to let him know when she’d be leaving.
She text him anyway, since he had asked. Then she made her way home.
When she opened the door she found that Jon had cut hearts out of the cardboard “Jack’s” wrappers and then created a treasure hunt throughout the house.
Annie took part in the hunt which led her to Jon, waiting in a room with a ring.
Good thing since that wedding venue was booked ๐
Jon & Annie,
We had a fantastic time wandering the quarries with you two and getting to know you better. The evening was so fun and beautiful and we wish it could have lasted longer!
We are so excited for your wedding next July!! ๐
